Aubrey Plaza was
born to Bernadette, a lawyer, and David Plaza, a financial advisor. She
is of Puerto Rican and Irish-English descent and was raised in a Catholic
family along with her two younger sisters, Renee
and Natalie. She attended an all-girls Catholic school in Delaware
before moving to New York City to study film at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. While at NYU, Plaza
developed a passion for comedy, performing improv and sketch at the Upright
Citizens Brigade Theatre.
Career
Plaza began her
career with internships and small roles on TV, including a guest spot on 30
Rock. Her breakthrough came in 2009 when she was cast as April Ludgate on NBC’s
Parks and Recreation. Her deadpan, sarcastic portrayal quickly became a fan
favorite, earning her critical acclaim.
She expanded her
