Dwayne Johnson was born into a family of professional wrestlers. His father , Rocky Johnson, was a pioneering Black Canadian wrestler, and his grandfather, Peter Maivia, was a Samoan wrestling legend. Raised in a wrestling environment, Johnson moved frequently during childhood and faced challenges including poverty and run-ins with the law.

 

He attended Freedom High School in Pennsylvania, where he excelled in football and athletics. He received a full football scholarship to the University of Miami, playing as a defensive lineman and winning a national championship in 1991. He graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Criminology and Physiology.
